Announcements: June 7, 2010 The beta is OVER! ./wrist June 6, 2010 I am working in photoshop to make the site look like it wasn't done by a robot with 3 screws loose. May 25 2010 Work continues on all fronts. May 14 - 2010 The work continues - we should start seeing some major enhancements to the site soon. I have posted up a paid opportunity, we'll see how that works out. Also - will be getting a new computer within a month so that means trivia bot for the WC3 channel. Moral of the story: now that I'm done with school; things should start moving. 4/20/2010 It's weed day! Also - the site got 200 hits yesterday and even some from China and Russia so that was really cool. I looked for about an hour to find a gadget or something to export my Google Analytics data to the site but it doesn't exist yet. 4/1/10 There has been a lot of out of house hating going on and it is the official policy of this community to not be haters. Please refrain from being a hater regardless of the actions of the ignorant. But... if you must... place it well

The beta is OVER! Post Script June 10, 2010 So the beta is over and I feel like I might if I had been on a date and the girl left before I could say like 5 things I wanted to say. But at the same time, in reflection it is probably best you didn’t say those 5 things because it would have made you look stupid. Furthermore, you probably needed a couple days before you saw her again for her to forget all the stupid things you did manage to say. Regardless; what is there to say about the beta? Perhaps my dreams of qualifying in some tournament somewhere someday are dashed and perhaps not. Either way, I think this game will spawn many tournaments that grow ever larger and larger; as well as a huge community of third party sites and custom maps. In short it is my opinion that SC2 will be the most epic RTS of all time and will go down in history as the first true E-Sport. Cross your fingers! Roach Corruptor? Post Script June 7, 2010 Apparently a burrowed roach moves as fast as a broodlord. Any interesting thoughts on this by any fast teching macro zergers out there? The question I have being: is this a viable strategy? I came across it by word of mouth and I can see how this might work out. My idea of it being that you basically mass roaches and probably some lings to handle any early and midgame but all the meanwhile you are fast teching to corruptors and broodlords. Perhaps you could decimate some massive ground. I guess the broodlord upgrade got nerfed anyway so you may as well get them real fast and upgrade your ground. I’m sure no mass hydra or stalker could stand up to this. If you’re fast enough at teching you should have enough corruptors to handle the air (or your ally will). People use stalkers and hydras to counter roaches I’m sure, maybe the air will catch them off guard or simply now worry them but those roaches burrowing under them might be a bigger problem that they anticipated? Regardless, I’m blabbing on: like I said I thought this was a novel strategy and thought it was worth writing about it. But again; maybe I just don’t troll enough. Potential Epic Siege Tank Cheese Post Script June 2, 2010 I have just discovered that if I force field on a tank in siege mode it will become impervious to melee and baneling attacks (the tanks can still be attacked by range however). But perhaps, if one encounters mass zerglings as a counter to your tanks then you can abuse this for a serious advantage. On that note: not sure if it will stop the splash damage from your other tanks, haven’t tested that. I don’t know if anyone else has figured this out yet but I haven’t seen anything so I will assume that if it has been discovered (most likely) it is not widely known and is still worth writing about. Let me know what kind of cheese comes of this kind of abuse. Maybe put a replay on YouTube and send me the link? That would be lovely – thank you. ^^Y Europe Vs Asia PostScript May 25 2010 In reading “The Prince” and listening to his discussion of German fortifications I realized something interesting about Asian play style, which may illuminate their complete dominance in Euro V Asia tournaments. In my own training I have concluded that, seeing this domination and being American, I would be most valuable if I proved myself able to beat Asians. The key to this is of course, figuring out how to undermine their excessive aggression. Coming back to Machiavelli; he discusses how German fortifications of the day were daunting and strategies how to overtake them. These strategies seemed very similar to those employed by Asians in defeating the Euro players. In conclusion: I don’t know how to solve this strategic puzzle but as Einstein said: 95% of that battle is having the right question. I hope this thread might be the question to help in not losing so dramatically to Asian players in the future. Best solution: (I can come up with) It would seem to me that the greatest recourse to massive aggression is massive defense. I am also afraid that perhaps it will not be possible to defeat these Asian players on their strategic “home ground.” That being their ability to be wildly aggressive while remaining solid economically which is usually done using Zerg and the ability to drone push. However, perhaps walling and defenses are not out of the box enough. In the same way protoss uses proxy pylons. Perhaps too can a Euro player use their seemingly natural preference for macro, passive play and turn it into an offence. This could be done by eliminating the distinctions between army and base. Make the army a part of your base and expand towards your opponent. In this case; we are delaying the war to the advantage of the turtle. Rushes will not work against the Asian play style. Thus, in conclusion; the solution from what I can gather is to produce a massive army that hides behind defenses which you grow slowly across the map towards your opponent. The Asian player should become frustrated at your mobility of your army within your own perimeter to move to meet his aggression as well as frustrated by the slowly but surely advancing wall of hurt. This of course would counter the emotional victories the Asian players seem to win time and time again with their constant harassment and aggression.
